UNITED WE DANCE INTERNATIONAL

presents:

Black Beauty

the classic tale reimagined

Sadler's Wells, London, July 2023

What is the United We Dance International experience?

Approximately 20 exceptional, aspiring professional dancers, aged 18-24, from all over the world, will engage in a 2-week company experience in London, immersing themselves in the development of an original Contemporary Ballet, Black Beauty, from vision to fruition. During this time, they will receive mentorship from industry leaders who will help each dancer to hone their creative voice and bring clarity to their career aspirations. UWD aims to nurture dancers to feel empowered, inspired and capable of forging exciting careers, paving the way to becoming our industry's future change-makers and leaders. We are fundraising to ensure the workshop and performances will be fully funded for the dancers so that socio-economic status is not a barrier to their participation.

UWD is a female-led organisation, with artistic direction from Andrea Kramer (USA) and Anna Morgan (UK). Original music will be composed by Conrad Korsch.

What is the mission?

UWD's mission is to nurture dancers from around the world who aspire for professional careers in Dance, providing them with the experience of working in a company environment as a springboard for their early careers.

Who will the dancers be?

UWD aims to create a young company synonymous with modern values; it will welcome exceptional dancers from all racial backgrounds, body types, gender expressions and neurodiversity.

We believe there needs to be more voices and fewer barriers. We want to empower artists with their own thoughts, voices and opinions, not only regarding the choreographic creation but also the ethos and values of a project. We want to prove that outstanding work can be created in environments rooted in compassion, respect and inclusivity.

What are we fundraising for?

In order to make this possible, we aim to raise £70,000, which will pay for the creation and production of Black Beauty, as well as our company's lodging and living costs. We are grateful for every contribution that is made, no matter how big or small, which will bring us one step closer to developing this incredible opportunity for young dancers worldwide.
